Teaching Artist Statement
Though originally on a track to make music her life’s pursuit, Amanda took another path professionally and now enjoys music as a life’s passion. Because of her other professional endeavors, Amanda believes that the lessons learned through the diligent practice of an instrument and collaboration with others is such a translatable skill regardless of one’s profession. She is committed to passing on the gift of music to others, and enjoys teaching at Music Center of the Northwest because she strongly believes in the mission statement that music is a universal language that can unite and be shared by all ages, cultures, and ethnicities.
Teaching & Performance Bio
Born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, Amanda holds a Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance from the University of Puget Sound. She started teaching in her private violin studio in Tacoma, taught chamber groups at the University of Puget Sound Community Music Program, and has coached violin sectionals for the Tacoma Youth Symphony. She enjoys performing in weddings, events, and select recitals with various colleagues and friends in the area. Amanda performs with Octava Chamber Orchestra.
