Kailin Mooney, flute
Flutist and piccoloist Kailin Mooney performs, records and teaches in the Pacific Northwest. She freelances as an orchestral, chamber and new music player for a wide range of events, from rock recordings to classical weddings. She currently holds the position of piccolo/3rd flute with the Lake Union Civic Orchestra.
Kailin has served as faculty at the Seattle Conservatory of Music and Seattle Music Partners. She is experienced teaching students ages 4 to adult and enjoys building individualized curriculum around the interests of each student.
A Seattle native, Kailin began her studies on piano at the age of 5. She took up the flute with suzuki teacher Heidi Ehle at age 8. She later studied with Zart Dombourian-Eby before attending Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music where she studied under Leone Buyse. An advocate of community building and supporter of non-profit arts, Kailin volunteers throughout the year with Rain City Rock Camp For Girls, a non-profit dedicated to fostering leadership, creativity, confidence and self-esteem in girls and women through music.
