Trio Animé Artist Bios

Eliza Siracusan, Clarinet

Clarinetist Eliza Siracusan received her Bachelor’s degree in performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music in 2005. Her primary teachers were Kim Fay, Richard Hawkins, Linnea Nereim, and Franklin Cohen. Eliza plays as much chamber music as she possibly can and especially enjoys collaborating with strings and piano. She performs with the Seattle Collaborative Orchestra and as principal clarinet with Octava Chamber Orchestra. Eliza also performs with the Harmonia Orchestra, Philharmonia NW, and Saratoga Orchestra of Whidbey Island.

Dr. Leslie Johnson, Viola

Violist Leslie Faye Johnson received her performance training at The Juilliard School, completing both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees; her Doctorate is from the University of Washington. Leslie performed for many years as Principal Violist/Solo Violist of the Pacific Northwest Ballet Orchestra in Seattle as well as with the Olympic Music Festival, and the Second City Chamber Music Series. A devoted private teacher, Leslie maintains a well-known viola studio: her students have consistently been the top winners in festivals and contests throughout the Northwest. Prior to establishing her studio, Leslie was Assistant Professor of Violin/Viola at Eastern Washington University. Leslie's Doctoral dissertation on the Shostakovich Viola Sonata was published by Bärenreiter, and is often used in scholarly research. In 2020, Leslie published two techniques books as well as a performer’s guide to Bach; expanded versions will be published in 2023. Leslie’s CD recording of the complete Six Bach Suites was released in 2013.

Dr. Charles Enlow, Piano

Charles Enlow has been richly praised throughout the United States and in Europe for his sensitive and virtuosic solo piano performances. In the Pacific Northwest, he has appeared frequently as a recitalist and chamber music collaborator. Dr. Enlow studied at the Juilliard School, the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, and the University of Texas at Austin, where he received his Doctor of Musical Arts degree. He has studied and coached with many master teachers, including Martin Canin, Mack McCray, Claude Frank, James Dick, Yo-Yo Ma, and Rosina Lhevinne. Dr. Enlow taught at the University of Texas at Austin, Texas State University, the Austrian-American Mozart Academy in Salzburg, and Shoreline College, where he directed and produced the college’s Opera Workshop and musical theater productions. Charles Enlow’s solo and collaborative performance repertoire spans three centuries – from Bach, Scarlatti, and Mozart to Rachmaninov, Mompou, and contemporary works by American composers. Dr. Enlow has a special passion for piano music of Spain and France. His interest in the solo piano music of Gabriel Fauré has inspired a current recording project of the entire series of Barcarolles for solo piano by Fauré.
