Teaching Artist Statement

As an educator, I believe in guiding students on a path towards musical fulfillment and enjoyment. I enjoy connecting with students and discovering how they learn best. I find that focusing on this connection allows for the most growth, both musically and personally. I also teach with the ultimate goal of my students being able to teach themselves.

Teaching Bio

I hold degrees from the University of Missouri-Kansas City (BM), California Institute of the Arts (MFA) and the University of Washington (DMA). I also have served as Artist-in-Residence at the University of Washington. Additionally I have worked with students during residencies at Seattle U, Cornish, University of Puget Sound and the University of Illinois. These experiences have allowed me to work with a wide variety of students over the years.

Performance Bio

I’m currently concertmaster of Federal Way Symphony, Seattle Philharmonic and Seattle Festival Orchestra. This last summer I was concertmaster of the NW Mahlerfest. I play in a string quartet called Pure Flavor and we are currently performing a Beethoven cycle. Recent solo performances for me include the Korngold Violin Concerto with Seattle Festival Orchestra, the US Premiere of Isidora Žebeljan's Three Curious Loves with Seattle Philharmonic and my own Violin Concerto Nightfall that I premiered with Port Townsend Symphony.
